Starter Check

Before you start bouncing:

For safety reasons, it is important to check all the nuts and bolts and do an overall check of your stilts each time before you start out.

For most stilts, you will need the following tools:

2 wrenches - 10mm and 13 mm
Hex Key (may come with some stilts)
Philips Screwdriver
Pliers

*Note: If you remove any bolts, make sure you keep track of how they should go back.
If you find any nuts that keep coming loose, you should replace them with new ones.

Below is a general guide to follow when checking over your stilts. This may not describe all jumping stilts and your stilts may be different.

1. (10 mm) - Only tighten if these are loose and you can move them by hand
Tighten by lowering or removing kneebar (loosen #2) and removing bolt # 7 to access the inside nuts

2. (10 mm, hex) - Should be relatively loose to the wrench, only tighten until kneebar won't move up or down

3. (13 mm) - Should be as tight as possible.

4. Check over the spring for any chips or gouges.

5. (13 mm) - Should be snug, don't overtighten.

6. Check the bottom of the hoof for cracks, deep gouges or extreme wear.

7. (13 mm) - Should be snug, don't overtighten.
Tighten with flat wrench, or remove the kneebar (loosen #2) to use socket wrench.

8. (13 mm) - Should be snug, don't overtighten.

9. (Screwdriver) - Should be snug, careful not to strip when tightening.

10. (10 mm) - Only tighten if these are loose and you can move them by hand.
Tighten by removing #11 to access the inside nuts with pliers. Some stilts will require that you remove #5 and #11 for direct access to the inside nuts.

11. (13 mm) - Should be snug, don't overtighten.
